ROPE DRUM & SHEAVE REBUILDS
Jormid performs in situ and off-site hoist and drag drum refurbishments. In situ refurbishments save on removal and installation costs and minimize machine downtime. Large, custom-fabricated manipulators, along with machining and heat treatment equipment, are used to refurbish drums and sheaves to meet specified groove profiles and hardness.
Refurbishing drums and sheaves is a significant undertaking that demands highly specialized processes, systems, equipment, and expertise. Progressive flame hardening involves using a flame head with integrated quench capability, and achieving the high hardness specification depends on the design of the flame head, duration of heating, target temperature to be reached, and composition of the metal being treated.
