DRAGLINE PROJECTS

Welcome to a dragline shutdown site. A standardized site layout for all projects enhances risk management. Designated walkways from the parking bay keep people separate from construction vehicles and equipment. Access control at the entrance container includes site-specific induction, a site visit register, clocking stations, all required permits, and lock-out facilities. Information boards display risk management and safety topics, supervisors on shift, and site rules. Planned activities for the shift, along with associated risks and potential hazards, are discussed during a combined safety meeting before the start of each shift. A well-equipped mobile weather station provides precise meteorological information. Mobile cranes halt operations during strong winds, and the site closes in red-alert stormy conditions.

DRAGLINE BASE ERECTION

The successful assembly and welding of a dragline base require meticulous planning, precision execution, and stringent distortion control. Demanding specifications are achieved by integrating advanced welding techniques, real-time measurement systems, and specialized finishing processes. The rack and slew bearing support pads demand exceptional geometric accuracy and tight surface finish tolerances to ensure proper load distribution, gear meshing, and slew bearing performance. These specifications cannot be reliably achieved through conventional machining methods. Instead, the use of a laser self-alignment milling system is essential. Installing the rack and slew bearing rails on a dragline base is a critical phase in the assembly process, requiring high precision to ensure proper machine function and long-term reliability. Accurate alignment, tolerance-controlled retaining bolt-hole preparation and secure mounting are essential to prevent rail movement under load and ensure long-term alignment integrity.

DRAGLINE BASE REPLACEMENTS

At the convergence of heavy industry and high-precision engineering, our team has successfully delivered numerous base replacement projects, consistently setting new standards for safety, quality, and execution excellence across the sector. Each project results from months of meticulous planning and engineering foresight, involving multidisciplinary coordination across earthworks, civil construction, precision engineering and advanced mechanical operations. These operations represent some of the industry's most complex and technically demanding undertakings, aimed at enhancing structural integrity and extending the service life of the world’s largest and most powerful earthmoving machinery.

PRECISION JACKING OPERATION ELEVATES
3,500-TON DRAGLINE FOR MAJOR OVERHAUL

Safely supporting a large, elevated dragline that permits concurrent base replacement and propel machinery refurbishment, significantly reduces machine downtime and associated costs. A highly experienced specialist team manages the complex operation, applying a proven engineered procedure and methodology with rigorous planning. Every phase aligns with strict performance and safety standards to ensure total control throughout the process.

A solid, engineered, purpose-built jacking pad provides a stable base for the lift, minimising ground displacement and ensuring uniform load distribution. Once lifted, the dragline remains supported by heavy-duty, designed and tested steel stands, capable of sustaining prolonged static loads with built-in redundancy. A certified and synchronised hydraulic jacking system drives the lift, offering millimetre-level accuracy and fully balanced load distribution. This system features real-time monitoring, pressure control, and fail-safe technology to ensure safe and continuous performance under load.

Comprehensive risk management governs every step. Contingency procedures cover hydraulic failure, load imbalance, and environmental factors. Previous operations proceeded without incident, validating both the technology and expertise behind the execution.

EXCELLENCE IN DRAGLINE SHUTDOWN EXECUTIONS

The execution of a dragline shutdown represents a significant event in the asset's life cycle. The intensity of numerous complex tasks conducted within a short period, alongside the scheduling of necessary resources and equipment, increases the reliance on capable specialist project management and front-line supervision to oversee the shutdown. A strong emphasis is required on risk management, safety, stakeholder alignment, and collaboration.

From pre-shutdown readiness to final commissioning, Jormid consistently delivers turnkey dragline shutdowns with technical integrity, safety leadership, and project excellence.
